From November 30, 2023 to January 21, 2024, the Amsterdam Light Festival will take place for the twelfth time. Amsterdam is fantastically illuminated in winter. Many bridges and historic buildings are beautifully illuminated.

From Amsterdam-Noord, we will sail two brand new 100% electric canal boats via the IJ towards the Amstel River for a stunning cruise. Along the way you will see 24 beautiful light art works in and around the canals of Amsterdam. A unique experience.

Theme
The Amsterdam Light Festival is one of the world's leading light art festivals. LOADING... Revaeling Art, AI and Tech is this year's theme. Sail with us along the 24 different works of light art. Look through the windows and see the effect of technology and artificial intelligence (or AI) on our everyday lives. How we communicate, connect and create is all affected by technology and AI. What are the implications of this? And where will it take us? Different perspectives will be highlighted by the artists during Edition 12.

The best way to enjoy these works of light art is sailing through the canals. From the water, you have a first-class view of the light art while you can relax and look around. The nearly 6 km long Amsterdam Light Festival water route is mapped out so you can see all the artworks in the canals and on the quay.

We provide regular and luxury canal cruises. Our canal cruises depart from Amsterdam North.
Board a new, comfortable, modern, 100% electric and heated boat from the jetty next to This is Holland and the A'dam Tower in Amsterdam Noord. The location is easily accessible from Central Station. Behind Central Station take the free ferry F3 towards Buiksloterweg.
From the ferry, walk straight to the left towards the A'dam Tower (the tower with the swing on the roof). After 250 meters you will see the Amsterdam Boat Cruises departure jetty on the right after the bridge. The address is Overhoeksplein, Amsterdam

Regular cruise

From the jetty next to "This is Holland" and the "Adam Tower" in Amsterdam North, you will board one of Amsterdam Boat Cruises' heated ships. Along the way, the skipper in Dutch and English will tell you more about the beautiful works of art and highlights of the city. An extensive information brochure in Dutch, English, German, Spanish and Italian is also available and will be handed out to all our guests.

Unfortunately, this boat is not wheelchair accessible.

Jetty next to This is Holland and the Adam Tower. You will see our jetty near the big banners of the Amsterdam Light Festival.

The location is easily accessible from Central Station. Behind Central Station take the free ferry F3 towards Buiksloterweg. From the ferry, walk straight to the left towards the Adam Tower (the tower with the swing on the roof) After 250 meters you will see the Amsterdam Boat Cruises departure pier on the right after the bridge. A striking and unparalleled appearance on the water. That is the Stan Huygens! So did beer magnate Freddy Heineken, who sailed the Amsterdam canals with this ship for many years. Step aboard and imagine yourself in a world of luxury. The Stan Huygens is the VIP ship of the fleet and the limousine on the water.

The Stan Huygens accommodates select groups up to 30 people. The interior is timeless and exudes luxury. The salon consists of 5 fixed, leather upholstered round benches. The large glass windows and glass roof ensure that you have a good view of all the works of art during the Amsterdam Light Festival. There are two fully equipped bars. The ship has an extensive lighting plan allowing any desired atmosphere to be set. Wheelchair users can unfortunately not enter this ship due to the steep access stairs.
